My dining room and kitchen.
(September 1, 2011) I now have a place to call home for the semester! I’m sharing a third-floor, two-bedroom flat, with a girl who just graduated with her bachelor’s degree. The first floor of our building is an Italian restaurant, La Trattoria. We each have our own lockable sleeping/studying quarters (with a bed, closet, and desk), and share the kitchen, dining area, and bathroom.
Having met the group flight transportation and my program director, Sören Köppen, at the Hamburg airport, the group of 10 students loaded ourselves and our luggage into two taxis for the hour-long Autobahn ride back to Lüneburg. The entire ride, we were treated to American music hits and their accompanying dance moves from our driver.
We have quite a diverse group of students, at least the ones I’ve met so far. We have guys from Virginia, Idaho, Iowa, Mexico, and Wisconsin (naturally). The girls call Alabama, Ohio, Nevada, and Michigan home. I’m looking forward to meeting the entire group (there are plenty of students who did not travel to Lüneburg with the group flight) tomorrow as we start our orientation with a walking tour of the city.
I live in Germany!
My room (nice and neat for now!)
